Jane and the Cow I saw one of the funniest events of my life this past weekend. My entire family spent Saturday in the woods of North Louisiana. All the kids, parents, grandparents, and friends out fishing, 4-wheeling, cooking, hiking, etc. etc. After a long day outdoors, we began our trek back to civilization. Unbeknownst to my sister Jane, her life would change forever... this is a story about a woman and a cow. On the drive back around 9p.m., my brother noticed approximately 10 cattle roaming the road and along a fenceline. So we all pulled over while he ran up to the owners house to let them know. Jane and Chris, the concrete-dwellers from Texas saw one with longhorns and thought, "Hey, let's get a picture of a LongHorn" -- Chris went to UT. So Jane, figuring we're just in one big safe zoo, proceeds to walk right up to the cow with her digital to snap a few. After having trouble with the flash and inching closer and closer, she hears Barbara say, "Jane, that's probably close enough". Jane decided a few feet closer would be better.... bad move, Jane.
The cow locks eyes with Jane with a purposeful stare. The cow charges, and let me tell ya.... I didn't know whether to jump out of the truck to save her or die from laughter. Jane's usual omnipresent warrier instinct failed and she ran with arms flailing, screaming like a banshee, and looking reminiscent of Macauly Caulkin in Home Alone. The chase only lasted a few seconds as the cow trotted on down the fenceline. Jane had no clue and kept running... until she dove into the safety of John's van. We all must've laughed for what seemed like an eternity! There were no losers in this epic drama as Jane is safe albeit with her pride slightly wounded, and we all laughed harder than we had in years. Jane, from your little brother.... thank you!

| In all fairness, I'd have probably run screaming too. They key here is, I wouldn't have gotten that close to a bull in the middle of the night pointing a camera at it!!!! Mooooooo!!!! | | |
