Haley's Firsts and Other Precious Moments Haley and I have done so MANY things together over the last year. There are dozens of stories I intended to write about each one. Instead of trying to remember the details of each one now (some almost 9 months ago), I decided to give you a brief description of some of our great times together. You'll notice Haley smiling in the picture to the left. She just finished her very first visit to the dentist with great results! Our hygienist, Amy, was so nice. She'd let us come in at night the week before so Haley could see all the equipment, sit in the chair, play, ask questions, and even practice on Daddy! So with just a little bit of nervousness in the beginning, she did a great job when the real visit happened! Later the same day, we decided to have a "Pamper Haley Day". So my good friend Jessica and I took her to a place in Little Rock to get her nails done. It's funny because Haley is very energetic and even tomboy at times. But deep down she is very girlie girlie and loved having her nails shaped, painted, filed, and even had decorative Chinese symbols painted on each one. She was enthralled with the special light she left her hands under for a while to dry or "cure" the paint? In this picture, you see her showing off her lovely nails. I think it's about time for another session!
Then it was on for her first time at the salon. No pamper day is complete without getting your hair done. It took years for Haley's hair to finally come in and I was very hesitant to get it cut. But frizz and split ends aren't for my girl! So we did the haircut thing complete with getting her hair washed, head massaged, hair cut, and fixed up. You'll notice in this picture I caught her off guard making a silly face at someone who said, "She is just too precious!". As a proud Daddy, I'll tell ya... she gets that everywhere she goes (as my head falls to the side from being too heavy).
After a bite to eat, we headed on to the Guitar Center in Little Rock. For those that don't know, Haley has obviously inherited her love and talent for music from her Daddy and Papaw (Grandad Ford). She really hams it up around the house on my drums, guitars, lights, etc. So I wanted to take her to the music stores just like my Dad did for me. She LOVED it. We played guitars, sang into microphones, played keyboards, danced in front of mirrors with our shades on, and as you can see in this shot; Haley is refining her skills to become the next John Bonham. You KNEW she'd end up a drummer, right?
And finally, we headed to a great place in Maumelle for some bowling, food, and fun. She gets so excited with the lights and sounds. She was more interested in being my cheerleader than anything else. She loved how the bumpers were automatically raised for her (to spare the grief of a gutter ball). Everytime I made a good bowl, she'd jump up and down, spin around, and shout "Rock N Roll, Daddio!", while giving the 2-fingered rock-n-roll symbol. In this shot, I'm taking a turn while she watches; perched from her favorite place... "Daddy's Horsee".

The three shots above were just some random shots I found that I liked. The first is Haley and me at her daycare this summer. She loves her friends and teachers at SugarBear. The next is Haley and her cousin Pete Pete at our family friend's son, Tim's, birthday party in Ruston. And finally, Haley with my best-friend Brian at the annual ATO Hurricane party in Ruston. I'm so proud of my little girl. I can't imagine what life was like before God blessed me with her. | |
