Halloween 2004 landed on a Sunday this year. Haley and I spent the day having fun together! Halloween is probably my favorite "kid" holiday. I get to be a Daddy and a kid at the same time. While Haley napped, I rigged up the front porch with lots of special effect lighting (from all my band and DJ equipment). I also put out a hidden sound system attached to a wireless microphone I controlled inside. Haley and a friend opened the door to give candy out while I'd hide behind a curtain. You've never seen so many scared kids AND parents as when they'd hear my booming evil laugh or scary words/sounds. I also had a soundtrack of scary music playing.

My Mom started this tradition with Jane, John, and me as young kids and I've carried it forward for future Ford generations; never missing a year! It was a little spicy and Haley had to drink a lot of Sprite. She'd say, "Daddy, it's too hot!".

We all know that answer to that one! :-) I've taken Haley trick or treating for 2 years now. She is still pretty timid about going to the door by herself, so I have to help a lot. She gets tired of it after a dozen houses or so and would rather help me scare the kids back at our house. I've gotta get that kid trained better... I remember having to dump my sack at home and go back out for more back in the day!

All in all, it was another great Halloween and I'm just tickled pink that my daughter shares my delight in the special effects, sounds, and making kids scream!!!
