Climbing Pinnacle What do you do with a big mountain in your way? You climb it! On a recent August morning, Haley and I set out to conquer Pinnacle Mountain. Located just 10 miles outside of Little Rock, it's a great way to explore nature, get in some good exercise, hang out with friends or family, and have a great time! And hey, it's free! Another great way to spend time and stay healthy with my little girl. The park has several trails starting at the casual stroller all the way to serious climber level. Haley and I chose the yellow base trail. It starts off winding around the base slowly moving up. You think such a small slope would be easy but it's filled with rocks, fallen trees, twists, and turns. One way up is 3 1/2 miles. And lemme tell ya, it will wear you out!

The trails are marked with small yellow paint marks on trees along the way. Over the years it looks like they've changed the trails and you can get mixed up pretty easily. Haley and I made it about 2 miles where we lost the trail. When you're looking up the side of a mountain, everything looks like the trail when the paint marks disappear. We literally climbed with our hands and feet up about a 100 foot slope and decided we were lost. Haley was a trooper and would've kept going but my legs were shot! We headed back down, found a trail, and made it back to the start. But hey, 4 miles total with my little baby and we had a great time! We finished it off with water and sandwhiches in the picnic and public playground area.

If you ever get the chance, you should definitely check out Pinnacle Mountain. Give us a shout and maybe we'll go with you!
